Memphis Ready Mix has evolved over the years from acquisitions and mergers of companies that have had long histories as ready mix producers in the city and metropolitan areas of Memphis Tennessee. In 1988 Lone Star Industries, Inc., a cement company established in 1918, acquired John A. Denie's Sons Co., a building materials company that was founded in 1859. That same year Lone Star also acquired DeSoto Redi-Mix, a Mississippi Corporation founded in 1955. Two other companies with long history in the ready mix business were also acquired at that time; Schevenell Ready-Mix and Carruthers Ready Mix.

Operating as Memphis Ready Mix division of Lone Star Industries, Inc. from 1988 until 2008, the company made many changes to its production facilities and fleet operations, positioning itself as a primary producer in the market place.

On January 1, 2008 the owner of Lone Star Industries, RC Lone Star Inc., established a Tennessee corporation, Buzzi Unicem Ready Mix LLC d/b/a Memphis Ready Mix. Then on February 1, 2008, Buzzi Unicem Ready Mix LLC acquired the assets of City Concrete from US Concrete, merging those assets with Memphis Ready Mix.

City Concrete, likewise, was the result of companies with rich histories in Memphis being acquired by US Concrete, a Houston Texas based Company established in 1998. In 1999 US Concrete acquired Carrier Concrete & Excavation, established in 1948, along with American Concrete and Olive Branch Ready Mix. These three companies merged and operated as Titan Concrete until 2006 at which time US Concrete also acquired City Concrete, a long time middle Tennessee company that had established itself as a prominent producer in the Memphis Market since 1994. Titan Concrete and City Concrete merged into one operation under the name of City Concrete.

The merger of City Concrete into Memphis Ready Mix; and the combination of professional employees from both companies, along with batch plants strategically located in the area and sufficient trucks, Memphis Ready Mix is well positioned to provide excellent service to any project.
